Road Trip-Day 3: Thursday, July 19th

Our day three wasn't so much about driving and was more about getting to Chicago. It was still about a 6 hour drive, but we got to Chicago around 3 (also because we gained and hour by going through a time zone, that was a nice surprise). Getting into Chicago was a little hairy, the highway had a lot of construction and we ended up in a lane that turned into an exit only with no time to change. We ended up in a really bad part of town, and I tried to get back to the highway but only got more lost. I found some police women who gave us an escort back to the highway, lights and all! We finally got back on the highway in the right direction we got to my friend Chris' who we were staying with. I have never been to Chicago before so I was really excited. We decided instead of going out on the town to take a bike ride to see the city along the lake. It was absolutely gorgeous and so even though we never made it "downtown" I think we saw the city in the best way possible for the first time. At dusk, purple sky, city lit up, beautiful. Then we went back and out to dinner with friends. Can't wait to go back to Chicago to visit!
